Youth Leadership Program Liaison

 

Summary Description

YWCA Boston offers a wide range of programs to meet its mission of “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all”.  These include community dialogues on race and ethnicity, financial literacy for women, health and wellness education and empowerment for women, and leadership development programming.  Critical to the success of each of these programs is strong community outreach and data analysis and management.  The Youth Leadership Program Liaison will support and lead efforts to provide up-to-date information to current InIt participants and alums via social medias, and maintain databases through ETO and FileMakerPro.  Additionally, the Liaison will assist in the planning and logistics of the annual Social Justice Art Slam. 

Interns are supported by professional YWCA Boston staff.  Flexible hours to be determined by the intern and supervisor, approximately 10 -15 hours per week.

Qualifications

Pursuing BS/BA/AA

Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher*

Interest in racial & social justice issues and community development

Outgoing personality, comfortable conveying YWCA Boston and The Leadership InItiative [InIt] mission and goals to groups and individuals

Excellent oral, written and communication/presentation skills

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, FileMakerPro, and Constant Contact

Ability to work occasional evening events a plus

Key Responsibilities

 

Maintaining up-to-date information for all InIt alumni, parents, partners, and sponsors through use of FileMakerPro and ETO database management systems

Assist with development of marketing and outreach materials such as flyers, postcards, website material, etc

Researching and posting up-to-date youth information, resources, opportunities, internships, and scholarships through online media and social networking tools [primarily Facebook]

Log progress in database

Attend outreach events in the Boston area to build a pool of potential participants and recruitment
