Our Mission and History

YWCA Boston Mission

YWCA Boston is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Unified by a common goal to achieve gender and racial justice, YWCA Boston provides a unique environment where people from all walks of life come together to access the tools and opportunities they need to participate fully in all spheres of life, and to make their voices heard on issues of social, racial, and economic justice.

YWCA Boston History

We are an organization of firsts. We were the first YWCA in the United States, the first organization in Boston to offer professional and economic development classes for women, and among the first to fight for racial and gender equality.
