YWCA Boston has provided and subsidized transitional shelter and low income housing since the 1880's. As part of its historic legacy, the YWCA Boston today retains more than 280 low-to- moderate-income and transitional single resident occupancy (SRO) rooms.

The Berkeley Residence at 40 Berkeley Street in Boston's South End provides SRO accommodations including meal service, as well as affordable hostel services.

The YWCA's historic Back Bay headquarters at 140 Clarendon Street, now operated by Clarendon Residences LLC, provides SRO accommodations, low to market rate apartments and  Hotel 140, a 55-room moderately-priced hotel.
