Larry Seamans
Sr. Vice President & COO
Larry Makowski Seamans joined YWCA Boston as its Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in May 2007, after 23 years of executive marketing and management positions with nationally recognized marketing firms, corporations and not-for-profits including Procter & Gamble, Viacom, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CitiCenter and the Museum of Science.
At YWCA Boston, Seamans has overseen the organization’s transition to an evidence-based, outcomes-oriented organization focused on key mission-oriented objectives. His portfolio includes programs, operations, finance, asset management and marketing for both YWCA Boston and its affiliate, Clarendon Residences, LLC.
Early in his career, Seamans served as a marketing and communications consultant for several residential and commercial real estate organizations including Spaulding & Slye, MetLife, Trammel Crow, Leggat McCall and JMB Urban.
Most recently, Seamans served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, a $10 million, regional human services organization. There, he drove performance management systems, overseeing the quintupling of both services and operating reserves for the Greater Boston office over 9 years, and the subsequent acquisition of 3 other human service organizations that doubled the organization’s service area and services.
Seamans has also served on the board of The Samaritans of Boston, and fund development and marketing task forces for GLAAD and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He is a regular speaker on older child adoption for the Department of Children and Family Services, a Big Brother and a graduate of Lead Boston.
Larry holds a bachelor’s degree from Penn State and an advanced degree from Syracuse University.
