YOUTH/POLICE DIALOGUES FACILITATOR TRAINING
YWCA Boston Youth/Police Dialogues is offering a training session for individuals who have the right skills and qualifications to join our current group of volunteer facilitators. To participate in the training, individuals must:
1) have previous group facilitation experience
2) Direct experience working with system-involved youth, and
3) be willing to commit to co-facilitate a minimum of one four-session Youth/Police dialogue series in a Boston neighborhood (such as four consecutive Monday evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Dorchester).
The training will equip participants with an understanding of our dialogue purpose, model, and curriculum, enabling them to be certified as Youth/Police Dialogue facilitators. The Youth/Police dialogue curriculum has been used successfully in hundreds of sessions throughout Boston, including recent series in Grove Hall and Dudley Square. More details about the facilitators' duties and desired qualifications are provided on the next page.
Applications will be reviewed, and those with the desired qualifications will be interviewed and then, by invitation, will be asked to attend the training. The interview will be an opportunity to meet program managers, learn more about the dialogues, and ensure that there is a good match between the applicants' skills and interests and the needs of the program.
